Is it possible to improve a tried-and-tested bestseller pedal? One can!! Fulltone has dedicated itself to the bypass issue. With the OCD Version 2 you can choose between True and Enhanced Bypass. True bypass circuits have the advantage that the input signal is passed through the device unaffected in bypass mode – the disadvantage is often a cracking noise when switching over. A buffered bypass provides relief, but bad buffer circuits often change the sound. Fulltone has developed the so-called Enhanced Bypass, a sound-neutral Unitiy Gain Buffer circuit, with no problems with background noise – for the purists, the OCD V2 can also switch to True Bypass. New is also a discrete built JFET input stage – the changed input impedance allows a significantly expanded dynamic range. In terms of sound, nothing has changed: the OCD is the Overdrive / Distortion secret weapon – an open, powerful Overdrive that responds very well to the guitar’s playing style or volume.
