The HRM version of the Ultraphonic from Vertex features a typically British voicing. The Gain control determines how hard the pedal’s preamp is driven and gives you more control over the amount of distortion coming from the preamp. With the Accent control you can also increase tone presence and gradually add more saturation to your signal. The ”Ratio” control lets you mix your distorted and your clean signal, and the ”Tone” control lets you accentuate different upper-mid frequencies between 800 and 1.6 kHz.
