The Split Tone Pad developed with Anika Nilles features three different surfaces for varied playing feel, different volume levels and a deliberately reduced rebound behaviour on the reverse side. That makes this pad much more than just a rudiments practice pad. With the Split Tone Pad you can creatively apply your own systematic approach to improve your accuracy and consistency together with independence, power and dynamics. Another special feature of this pad is the possibility to train your ear and understanding for specific rhythms. The middle zone has normal rebound behaviour and is perfect for practising as usual. The additional red zones have a higher pitch than the main surface. If these are played with only the right or left hand, the exercises are split into two different sounds, which lets you perceive familiar stickings in a new way. The soft, oval zone at the top offers a muffled sound. If you integrate this surface into your hand technique, you can strongly focus attention on the other hand to spot errors and weaknesses and improve them. The playing surface on the back has less rebound thanks to a special finish. It allows quick warm-ups and helps build extra power. When playing the pad on the top, the special reverse side also prevents slipping on smooth surfaces.
