Swedish electronic outfit Elektron expands its affordable ”Model” series with the groovebox ”Cycles”. Inside the Model:Cycles you’ll find a 6-track groovebox using FM synthesis. The six tracks in the Model:Cycles are called ”Machines” and consist of Kick, Snare, Metal, Perc, Tone and Chord. They can be individually shaped with 12 controls (including Colour, Shape, Sweep and Contour) and programmed/recorded via the step sequencer and/or real-time recording with up to 64 steps per track using the six velocity-sensitive pads. The Elektron Model:Cycles groovebox gives your creativity a tool for self-expression that is as powerful as it is flexible.
Sonically, expect mouldable sounds at the digital cutting edge that can be turned into completely different spheres with just a few tweaks. Most sound changes can be edited directly on the surface, and if you want to go deeper you can access extended functions via the Func button and the corresponding dual assignment of the keys.
Hip electro producers and laptop beat-makers will be thrilled. Thanks to the compact dimensions and a weight of just 800 g, producing even in the nearby scene café is no problem. Optionally, the available battery pack — the Power Handle BP-1 — ensures the Elektron Model:Cycles is supplied with sufficient power on the go and looks the part.
