The aim of ”Klavier Fantasien” is to offer additional repertoire to the already known pieces, providing even more fun and variety in piano playing.
Musical elements from a wide range of eras — from Baroque through Romanticism and Impressionism to jazz and pop — are imaginatively combined here into something new. Important technical skills can be acquired, such as the independence of both hands through rhythmic displacement, contrary motion and syncopation, as well as bringing out the melody. The pieces in this book sound just as beautiful played slowly as they do at a faster tempo. The player is therefore not tied to fixed tempi but has the freedom to interpret the pieces independently according to skill and taste. For this reason, tempo markings have been omitted. Two of the ”Fantasien” are also offered again in difficult keys (with the same fingering).
